Welcome to McDowell Early College, located in Marion, NC
Senior Portraits on September 3
Wednesday, September 3 is the FINAL opportunity that graduating seniors have an opportunity to be photographed in the formal tux or drape that is used in the yearbook and graduation program. á If you were not able to have your portrait made at McDowell High back in the summer, then it is IMPERTATIVE that you are photographed on September 3. áSenior portraits will be made from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon in the MTCC auditorium. áThe sitting fee for these portraits is $5.00 per student. áIf you are not photographed on September 3, then you will have to make a personal appointment to be photographed in Asheville on your own time.á
Picture Day is Wednesday, September 3
MEC's annual Picture Day will be Wednesday, September 3. áAll students should plan to be photographed between 8:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. áin the MTCC auditorium. Picture Day at MEC is always a pre-paid event, which means that students must bring money with them the day that pictures are made in order to purchase them. áIf you are unhappy with your pictures, then they will be remade at no charge on our remake day, which is set for Tuesday, October 21. (plan to bring the actual pictures back with you that day). áStudents will be given picture order forms during seminar classes on August 26 & 27. á

Each basket's retail value is at least $200. á
The 2014 basket categories are:
Cleaning Basket: á Cochran & Hood
Garden Basket: Lattimore & Jordan
Grilling Basket: áHaber-Ridge & Sutton
E-Reader & Book Basket: á McCraw & Scott Wilson
Coffee & Chocolate Basket: áCarson & Jennifer Wilson
Money Tree & Gift Cards Basket: á Cline & O'Buckley
Biggest Fundraiser of the Year: October 3
Every year, MEC students have an amazing opportunity to raise money to go on class trips. á On Friday, October 3, we will host our annual Variety Show at East McDowell Middle School beginning at 7 p.m. áPrior to the show, a spaghetti dinner will be served beginning at 5:30 p.m. á Tickets for both the dinner & the show are $8 for adults, and $6 for students. á 100% of ticket sales are transferred directly to student accounts. á

In addition, MEC also puts together amazing gift baskets valued at $200.00 which are raffled off the night of the Variety Show. á Tickets are sold for $1.00 a piece, and again, students receive 100% of the profits from these sales.á

The reason students receive 100% profit is because all of the items for the gift baskets and for the dinner are donated by MEC parents and local businesses. á All items for the gift baskets should be submitted to the school no later than Friday, September 5, in order to maximize the amount of time students have to sell tickets. á
